Backpacking Essentials & Trying New Ones! 🎒🥾
When it comes to packing the essentials and ensuring that you’ve got the right gear for your trip, is a must! Having the right gear can be the difference between a trip you’ll love and a trip you’ll be sore on. 🏞️🪼🌊
So, after much request, I’ve put together a backpacking packing list, full of the very foundational items you’ll need for any backpacking trip, including this one.

This trip let me try out some newer products, maybe you've been wanting to try these out! Here's a new one:
#1. The bivvy was a newer release and happened to be more rain resistant but also light weight compared to other models. It took some getting used to, but I've come to enjoy it, I just needed to adjust some ways that I'd previously done things.
Like now using my rain guard overtop of my backpack since it doesn't fit inside the bivy. Or changing inside of the sleeping back instead of inside a tent. 🏕️🌲
⭐ But the benefits are better! The weight is less than 1lb, it takes up almost no space in my pack, it holds heat better, and is the easiest to set up.

Happy Birthday to my favorite little peanut! 🎉 You’re officially 6, dude—time to party like the silly goose you are! I’m so proud of how much you’ve grown, and I can’t wait to see all the fun, laughter, and adventures this next year brings you.
But For now, I'm going to reminisce on the amazing things we've been able to do with you while you've been 5, and how much you've grown!
🌟 We took you on your very first road trip to Arizona, and you did amazing!! 🏜️
🌟 You went to your very first hot springs, saw the Grand Canyon, walked around Bryce Canyon, hiked to Palouse Falls, and more.
🌟 Took the light rail and public transportation for the first time. 🚊🚎
🌟 Your mommy (my sister) and I got a new space for all of us to share, and you've now got your own room filled with superhero costumes, toys, comics, a crafting corner, and more. Yay! 🤍💖🧡
🌟 Your mommy taught you how to swim, and you're getting better at swimming without a life jacket. 🏊‍♂️
🌟 I taught you how to ride your bike; you just needed a little empowerment from your auntie. 🚴‍♂️

A trip to Shi Shi Beach Olympic National Park is perfect, if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, soak up time in nature instead! Keep in mind that Shi Shi Beach is not impacted by tidal barriers, unlike many other popular beach sites in Olympic National Park, which makes this travel spot more convenient and exciting! Even at high tide, you’re able to walk the whole length of the beach. The best and most ideal time to go is between July through September. Backpacking Shi Shi Beach, was incredibly beginner-friendly and even a great option for those just starting the season (Perfect for prepping for next season!). Not to mention that it's incredibly diverse terrain; there's a dense tree forest, mudd, sand, bridges, stairs, compressed switchbacks, rockery, and caves too! 🏞️🪼🌊

It was Zeke's and Archie's 5th Rescue-versary This Month! & Guess Who Rescued Archie?! 🐓🎉 We've been reunited and it feels so good!
These two roosters came to Rooster Hau Rescue after they'd received a tip about abandoned roosters in a heavily forested area over four hours away from them in Forks, WA. They'd combed the forest for hours, couldn't get all of them, but got Zeke.
The next day, my friend group, Calliape (@calliapeerricson), Keren (@kerenshwartz), and I just so happened to be camping in that area. Once we'd heard, we were happy to go look for them and save them. We ran through the forest to find them and grabbed Archie to save him. Although one more slipped our grasp and we couldn't get him, Archie and Zeke are still celebrating their life at Rooster Haus. Now we are reunited again and it feels so good! After 5 years, I get to see them thriving, hear them crowing, and sleep at Rocky's Retreat amongst them.🥳
When they first arrived, they were some of the most fearful roosters that Rooster Hause had ever met, and now they are some of the most friendly and outgoing roosters at the Haus. Now, look at how big they’ve gotten!? 😃
