Terra Thread - Lupa Canvas Tote Bag
Each person has their choices on texture preference. Recycled polyester and canvas bags are both awesome. I personally have some of both. However, canvas breaks down at the end of its lifecycle. The one thing with canvas is that it can be porous, I highly recommend opting for darker colors, like the one pictured. How fun is that color?! Love it!

One of the best things about this neck pillow is that it inflates and deflates for easy storage and it’s actually more comfortable than it looks! It’s got a layer of fabric over it to add to the softness of it, and it compacts to about 3/4 the size of a phone!

I’ve found these to be an absolute essential when staying at hostels or even when wanting to lock up my luggage when I decide to leave it behind the hotel front desk, as I explore and in between check outs.

Cotopaxi - Cubo Uno Del Dia Packing Cube Bundle
Packing cubes are essential for condensing, separating and organizing. Especially when trying to get everything to fit in smaller and small suitcases!
Personally, I use the smallest one for socks, undies, and my bathing suit. Then the medium one I keep my winter clothes/dress clothes in, and the large one is for everything else.
♻ Sustainability Highlight: Each cube is made from 100% remnant materials that could have ended up in a landfill. Note: Because each bag is made from repurposed fabric scraps, each color combination will be unique!

Some Specs:
-175-lumen flashlight

An amazing aspect of this protective device is that it’s able to go on many flights, as long as it’s in the checked baggage. But be sure to double check the flights beforehand!
Another great aspect, is that this stun gun doesn’t have prongs. Which is great, because when the prongs get unaligned, on other devices, the stun gun no longer works. So, this one is super durable!

After having this backpack for over two years, I can truly say that this is by far the best, most durable, highest quality, and protective backpack that I’ve ever owned. This pack set truly embodies quality vs. quantity!

U.S. Traveler Boren Polycarbonate Hardside Rugged Travel Suitcase Luggage with 8 Spinner Wheels - 26 inch
We may not be able to control how people handle our luggage, but we sure can control what we choose to use to protect our luggage. I’ve picked a hard shell to allow me to not overpack, protect my belongings, be waterproof, and it’s so much easier to move around than carrying it all.
As someone who’s fairly nomadic, my absolute life essentials all need to fit, too! If you’re planning on being nomadic, yours will need to be as well! So, opting for the 26 or 30-inch (0.76 m) and having what you need can be crucial.

Duck's Back Pack Rain Cover
This rain cover has saved me on so many hikes—it keeps my pack completely dry even in heavy downpours. I like that it’s super lightweight, easy to stuff away, and the fabric feels tough enough to handle rough trails. The drain hole is a smart detail too, so water doesn’t pool at the bottom. For long trips in the mountains or unexpected rain by the lake, this cover gives me peace of mind knowing my gear stays protected.

RunOff Waterproof Phone Pouch
This pouch has been a game-changer for me on hikes and lake trips and I can take photos right through it, even when I’m in the water, amaiong
It’s completely waterproof and dustproof, so I don’t worry about sudden rain or dropping my phone near the shore. I love that it’s lightweight, easy to roll up when I’m not using it, and comes with a lanyard so I can wear it around my neck while exploring. And honestly, it gives me peace of mind knowing my phone stays safe while I still get to capture every moment outdoors.

Full Face Snorkel Mask
The first time I used a full face snorkel mask, it honestly made snorkeling so much easier. Unlike the old setup where you have to bite down on a tube, this mask lets you breathe naturally through your nose or mouth—it feels way more relaxed, especially if you’re new to snorkeling.
The wide 180° view really changes the experience too. The lens is clear and flat, so the underwater world looks sharp without that dizzying distortion some masks give. Plus, with the camera mount, I could capture reef shots hands-free while still enjoying the moment.
It’s designed for surface snorkeling (not deep diving), and taking breaks is a must. But for exploring coral reefs or calm coastlines, it’s safe, simple, and makes the underwater world way more inviting.

No. 8 Mushroom Knife
I didn’t think I’d get this much use out of a mushroom knife, but it’s actually become a fun little hiking companion. When I’m out on the trail, the curved blade makes for easy cuts and the serrated edge helps clean things up fast. The boar-bristle brush is my favorite part.
It feels so satisfying to dust off mushrooms right there in the woods. It packs light, feels useful, and just adds a simple joy to my hikes.

Fillo Elite Pillow
When you’re traveling light, every ounce counts—and this pillow nails it. At under 3 oz. and packing down to the size of a lime, it fits easily in a backpack or even your jacket pocket. But don’t let the size fool you—the loft and cushion are way more impressive than you’d expect.
Whether you’re camping under the stars, catching sleep in an airport, or on a long road trip, it feels soft and stable enough for real rest.
And honestly, while you won’t be winning any pillow fights with it (it’s way too light for that), you will win a solid night’s sleep wherever your travels take you.

ISOPRO Stove
When you’re miles from the nearest town and craving a hot meal, this little stove is a lifesaver and an ultralight essentials that slips into your pack without taking up space, yet delivers big when it’s time to cook.
It’s ridiculously easy to use—no priming, no fuss. Just twist it on, light it up, and you’re boiling water in minutes. I’ve used it in the cold with gloves on, and the control valve is smooth enough to dial down from a rolling boil to a gentle simmer.
It works with most isobutane-propane canisters you can find worldwide, which makes it a solid pick for long hikes, international trips, or even just as a backup stove. Lightweight, durable, and proven—I’ve used mine for years, and it’s still going strong.

ISOPRO Fuel Tank
I always bring one of these canisters on hiking or camping trips since they’re super reliable for keeping my stove going, even in cold weather.
The 80/20 isobutane-propane blend burns clean and steady, so I never have to guess if I’ll get a hot meal or coffee on the trail. I also love the printed float gauge—just drop it in water, and you can see exactly how much fuel is left. The self-sealing valve makes it easy to disconnect and pack up safely.
Lightweight, dependable, and a must-have for any backcountry adventure.

TOAKS Cook Pot
I’ve been using this pot on backpacking trips, and it’s hands-down one of my favorite pieces of gear. The pure titanium construction makes it super lightweight but tough enough to handle high heat, and it never gives food that metallic taste. I love the compact design—the foldable handles and mesh sack make it easy to stash in my pack, and it nests perfectly with my small stove and gas canister.
The size is just right for solo trips: big enough to cook a hearty soup or pasta, but not so large that it becomes a burden on long hikes.
For anyone traveling light or heading into the backcountry, this pot hits all the marks: durable, efficient, and travel-ready.

The slip-resistant rubber soles give me peace of mind, and the classic slip-on design makes them super easy to wear. Lightweight, stylish, and functional—basically everything I want in a pair of work flats.

Multipurpose Poncho Raincoat
I always pack this poncho on hikes and mountain trips—it’s a lifesaver when the weather turns suddenly. The polyurethane-coated polyester keeps me dry, and the taped seams really do block out wind and rain. I love the full-cut hood with a drawcord for extra coverage, and it’s surprisingly lightweight at under 10 oz.
It’s also a breeze to pack: the included zippered pouch tucks neatly into my backpack without taking up much space. Whether I’m scrambling up a trail or hanging out by a lake, this poncho gives me quick, reliable protection from the elements without feeling bulky or heavy.

This jacket has been a game-changer on my mountain and lake hikes. The waterproof/breathable shell keeps me dry in rainstorms while still letting me move comfortably, and the zip-in liner makes it perfect for chilly mornings or windy summits.

I love that it stretches to fit comfortably and packs easily into my backpack. Plus, it’s an eco-friendly choice, so I feel good about wearing it on all my outdoor adventures.

The mid-cut design provides my ankles with support without feeling stiff, while the mesh uppers keep out dirt and debris, allowing my feet to breathe all day. Halo Performance Crop
Honestly, this little chair has become my go-to whenever I’m out hiking or traveling. After a long trek, it feels so good to sit down, lean back, and actually feel supported instead of just plopping on a rock or the ground. The low, grounded seat makes it perfect for meditating outdoors—whether I’m up on a mountain ridge or next to a quiet lake, it helps me just breathe and sink into the moment.
Very lightweight enough to throw in my pack without even thinking twice. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been like, “Ugh, thank goodness I brought this with me.

Elba Swimsuit Top
I’ve been loving this swimsuit top for trips to lakes or rivers on my hikes. The UPF 50 sun protection is a lifesaver when I’m out in the sun all day, and the medium-support bralette design keeps things comfy without feeling restrictive.
I also love the adjustable straps and removable cups, which make it easy to tweak for long paddle sessions or relaxing by the water. Lightweight, easy to pack, and perfect for adventure days where a quick swim is a must!

These shorts have been my absolute favorite for hiking, lake days, and travel adventures. The breathable, quick-drying fabric keeps me comfy whether I’m scrambling over rocks or cooling off in the water, and the UPF 50+ sun protection is perfect for long sunny days outdoors.
I love the relaxed fit and elastic drawstring waist—super easy to move in, and the side pockets come in clutch for stashing snacks or my phone. Plus, knowing they’re made from recycled and upcycled materials makes me feel good about wearing them on every adventure.

Surely this is one of the best first aid kits I’ve had.
Not only is it stocked full of almost all of the basics, but it comes in a heavy-duty ripstop bag for most adventures and ensures contents are kept clean and dry
Pared down to a weight-saving bare minimum, this Adventure Medical Ultralight/Watertight .7 medical kit contains the most essential supplies.

First and foremost, the American The Beautiful Pass is absolutely essential for anyone regularly enjoying the outdoors.

Seriously, I wish I had known about it sooner.
This pass is honored at sites managed by the Forest Service, National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and Army Corps of Engineers

Katadyn Hiker Pro Clear Microfilter
This Katadyn water filter pump has been absolutely amazing and very user-friendly.
I personally chose to get the clear Katadyn Hiker Pro because I had wanted to see the filter at work, especially since this filter eis asy to clean.
To clean the filter, simply swish in the water. How easy is that?!
As far as the durable structure, it’s made of a Glass-fiber element that’s pleated for increased surface area to handle silt and muddy water
Lastly, when considering a filter, make sure it physically removes particles, protozoa, and bacteria down to 0.2 microns in size, including Giardia, Salmonella, Cryptosporidia, and others
This one does!

Gregory 3D Hydro Trek Hydration Reservoir - 3 Liters
After going through multiple water bladders, I finally found one I like – it’s this one!

Luckily, the Gregory 3D Hydro Trek Hydration Reservoir – 3 Liters comfortably, so this Reservoir just compliments that pack wonderfully!

Backpacker's Pantry
Pad Thai
The Backpacker’s Pantry Pad Thai is one of their best and most sold out meals!
Although it’s marked as spicy, there’s the option of not even adding the sriracha that comes with it. Which means it appeals to many more taste buds and preferences. I always have at least one on had!

HydraPak Seeker 2L Collapsible Water Container - 70 fl. oz.
After trying the hard plastic water bladders and having them crack after just a couple uses, I found these silicone ones, and I’ve not looked back since!
They are perfect for travel, backpacking, hiking, etc. Especially because they can be completely collapsed and crushed down to fit in most crevices.

REI Flash 22 Backpack

Peak Refuel Mountain Berry Granola is one of the few oatmeal/granola meals, that I have found delicious. It’s great both cold and hot! There are multiple textures and flavors throughout it, while most others just turn to mush.

TINMIU Rechargeable LED Headlamp - 2 pack
After having these head lamps for years, I can truly say that this two pack is an absolutely amazing deal!
Not only do you get one, but you get two of these rechargeable, 1000 lumens (lumens measures brightness), and adjustable headlamps.
Oftentimes, we can lose track of daylight, or maybe an emergency happens, a magical cave appears, or something gets dropped between some dark rocks, a headlamp is always a great hike essential!

Cascade Mountain Tech Trekking Poles - Carbon Fiber + Adjustable Locks
One of the best benefits of these trekking poles is that they take the weight off the knees and back, plus allow us to have a couple of “extra legs” when needed.
I’ve personally noticed they come in handy for super steep hikes and when trekking through water and they’re incredibly lightweight for any trek!
Plus, the carbon fiber material so much stronger than the typical aluminum ones, personally if I’m resting body weight on these, I need them to hold up!

Air Horn/Bear Horn
Although what may work for some predators don’t work for others, It’s worth having multiple forms of protection.
As far as bears – mace and the air horn are said to work, but with larger cats I’ve read that the air horn can be more affective since they move so incredibly fast.
So, again, it’s worth having both!

Bear Mace
Thankfully, I’ve not had to use this Bear Mace yet, but having that extra step of protection can truly be life-saving and even ward off any anxiety.
It’s worth having multiple forms of protection.

Dragonfly OSMO™ Ultralight Backpacking Tent
Of course, having a tent is always a great go-to and can be convenient when having two or more people.
Also, tents allow for lots of wiggle room, are great for people who prefer open spaces, can hold extra gear, accommodate taller people, and ventilate better to reduce condensation.
I previously tested out an REI Co-op flash air tent and was so disappointed that many tents can’t take the top layer off to look at the stars. I’m so glad that the NEMO tent allows me to see the stars – I’ve gained a new-found appreciation. Plus, it’s got a way better ventilation setup.

Outdoor Research Helium Bivy
Alright, yes, having a tent is the typical shelter most people know of, but there’s also a bivy.
I absolutely adore bivy’s because they are significantly lighter, typically hold the heat in much easier (up to 10 degrees more), and are generally easier to set up!
However, just like any piece of gear it can have it’s own challenges, like being a bit more difficult to get in, the bivy gets really warm, not great for people with claustrophobia, doesn’t protect gear, and can condensate if not well ventilated.
But as someone who’s almost always cold, doesn’t put my dirty gear inside my tent, and have found that tents will typically have condensation anyways.

Marmot trestle elite Eco 0 sleeping bag
First and foremost, this sleeping bag has come in handy more times than I had ever thought. It kept me warm in my van on those cold nights or even through those backpacking trips through the canyon and mountains.
Not to mention it’s made out of recycled materials and durable rip stop polyester, so the love for the environment doesn’t compromise quality.
Oh, and best of all is that because it’s made out of polyester, you’ll stay warm, even if it gets wet, unlike other materials.

Therm-a-Rest Z-Lite Sol Sleeping Pad
Personally, having a comfortable sleep setup is truly essential. If we have poor sleep, then that means our recovery is also going to be impacted. I can speak from experience!
Firstly, this base layer Therm-a-Rest Z-Lite Sol Sleeping Pad protects your blow-up pad from rocks, adds extra cushion, and even gives another layer of blockage from the cold ground.

Osprey Ariel 65 Pack - Women's
So, this is the other brand of backpacking packs I have had the pleasure of trying and honestly, both are worth mentioning.
Comparatively, these Osprey packs are quite a bit different.
Firstly, they are much thicker in material, which also means more sturdy but also heavier.
So, each backpacking backpack has it’s own benefits.
Additionally, the Osprey’s front pocket is more sturdy and less likely to stretch out, whereas the Gregory pack’s front pocket can accommodate more items due to its elastic design.
However, if you’re looking for a strong, sturdy pack, that can endure some nature-based beatings, this is the pack for you!

Gregory Maven 65L Backpacking Pack
After trying many backpacking packs, I’ve found really amazing one that are both great in their own way.
So, this one is the Gregory Maven’s 65 pack!! I totally adore it!
Best Feature: Lightweight & Pocket Variety
Disclaimer: This is a XS women’s pack, but not to worry! They have many styles and sizes available.
PS: Just make sure to get a pack 65 liters or larger! The smaller size barely fits a bear canister and the essentials with it!

Trowel
Overall, trowels are used to bury human waste but can be multipurpose tools too, if you get the right one!
This one here has serrated edges to slice through tough ground and roots, so this can dig where other tools struggle in comparison.

Knee Braces
A knee brace unloads stress from the knees and pushes the pressure to the thigh, creating better mobility in the knee joint while reducing stiffness and helping improve workout recovery.
Have you ever seen people with tape on their knees? Whelp, this is the more sustainable and easier option!
I absolutely love these! I use them on any hike longer than 2 miles (3.22 km), and on every backpacking trip.
They also pair well with the pain relief slaves, just place it under the knee brace. As someone who has struggled with knee pain since I was a child, being preventative in this area is huge!!

BearVault BV475 Trek Bear Canister
Although I’ve seen many people have bear bags and lines, I find them to be an extra step and hassle. Plus, many National Parks and wilderness areas still require a bear canister regardless. So, I’ve just kept it simple and stick to the bear canister.
Just be sure to keep it in the center of your pack or even weight distribution, and 100 ft (ca. 30 m) from your campsite.

You must have this!

Kuhli Kammok Hammock Ultralight Weatherlight Shelter
I’m seriously impressed by how light this shelter is—it weighs just 10 oz but keeps me completely covered from rain, snow, or wind.
Setting it up is a breeze thanks to the knotless design, and I love how versatile the hexagonal shape is for hanging above the ground or on the go. The DWR-coated fabric feels super durable, and the included stuff sack makes it easy to pack.

Lightning Ascent Snowshoes
I’ve been loving these snowshoes for winter hikes and backcountry adventures—they’re lightweight but tough, and the narrow frame makes it easy to move naturally on the trail. The 360° traction frames and steel crampons give me serious confidence on icy or packed snow, while bindings keep my boots secure without freezing up in the cold.
On steep climbs, they make a huge difference, letting me push up without tiring my legs. Whether I’m tackling a snowy ridge or exploring untouched powder, these snowshoes make winter hiking feel effortless and fun.

I never travel without this little lifesaver! The Etekcity Luggage Scale makes it super easy to avoid overweight fees at the airport—no more last-minute panic at the check-in counter. It’s compact and lightweight, so it fits right in my backpack, and the clear LCD shows the weight in seconds. Giantex Folding Floor Chair with Back Support
This chair has become my go-to meditation spot because it feels like the perfect mix of cozy and supportive. I can sit for longer without my back yelling at me, which means I get to actually focus on meditating instead of fidgeting. I love that the back adjusts to different angles — sometimes I sit upright when I want to be really present, and other times I lean it back for a more relaxed vibe. Plus, when I’m done, it folds flat so I can slide it out of the way until I’m ready for my next session.

Nnewvante Floor Chair
I enjoy this chair because it feels like sitting in a cloud, but with structure — my spine isn’t slumping, and I’m not constantly shifting around. It gets me calmer faster, because getting comfy lets my brain settle in instead of trying to “fix” my posture all the time.
At the Vipassana cetner, they do have a few of these for people to borrow, but they don’t have many. Often times certain people are selected for these.
