Best Vegetarian & Vegan Restaurants In Sacred Valley Peru (+Options)
For one, I was absolutely shocked that there were so many amazing vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Sacred Valley Peru. As well as there being options in the hidden places too! Look no further, Iโve noted the best vegan restaurants just for you!
Not only is the Sacred Valley Peru absolutely astonishing, but itโs full of nourishing foods that promote a healthier way of life. Best of all, Peru is known for standing up to the chemical companies and banning the use of pesticides and harsh agricultural chemicals. So, the food is even more pure and delicious.
After staying in the Sacred Valley for multiple months, I had a chance to essentially eat my way through the valley. These are the delicious vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Sacred Valley Peru and additional hidden options that I found.
Also, one important thing to note is that in Peru, their technology isnโt as advanced, so youโll often see the restaurants, cafรฉs, or eateries primarily have a Facebook page instead of a website.

PeruTravel Resources Key
All resources on our site are shared to fuel and inspire you to be able to confidently, courageously, and sustainably explore this beautiful world.
Urubambaย
Urubamba is the prime city, offering a majority of the vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Sacred Valley Peru. Along with many other shops, markets, and every day items you may need.
Ama Restaurant
Ama Restaurant was actually born from a piece of a previous restaurant, by the same owner, that had been purely for vegetarians and vegans before the pandemic. But most of the locals in Peru are meat eaters, so the restaurant struggled and had to close. However, there was a bit of beauty from that, the owner had time to reflect and had realized that there was a deeper mission that heโd wanted to move towards.
So, Ama Resturaunt now encompasses a part of the old, but a bit of new. Itโs now also partially a non-profit to help single mothers. Offering them a safe space, housing, work, and ways to be a part of a communal connection.
Currently, it’s run by two brothers, volunteers, single mothers, and the community all together. Amaโs purpose is to uplift and support the community. How beautiful is that?
This is why Iโve ranked this vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Sacred Valley Peru as being the first on the list!
Special Requests & Things To Note:
Although they offer a variety of dishes, most of the dishes are vegan or vegetarian. They pride themselves in saying that any dish can happily be made vegan or vegetarian.
Before the pandemic, they were a different restaurant and were primarily vegan. But once the city shut down, to stay afloat, they expanded their menu.ย
Favorites:
- Jamaica drink (My #1 favorite drink)ย
- Puka Ajรก/Frutillada – It’s fermented, so it has a bit more of an acidic taste than a sweet one. Be sure to offer Pacha Mama a sip first to give thanks – Itโs a sacred offering!
- Soup of the day (The pumpkin is heavenly)
- La Verde – Falafel wrap
- Oriental Bowl (My #1 favorite dish)
- Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookie
- Carrot Cakeย
Extra:
Overall, because the altitude can make people feel heavy already, they focus on having light meals. So, not all the energy is put towards digestion. This way people are supported in their exploration. Amaโs focus is on feeding the hearts and souls of the community through wholesome and a comforting home-cooked style.
Address: Avenida Mariscal Castilla S/N Corner With Calle Belen, Urubamba 08661 Peru
PS: Be mindful of the hours, as they do close at 6 pm most days. Which makes it a better place for lunch or an early dinner.
โป๏ธ Sustainability Tip/Highlight: Not only are they community oriented, but they also pride themselves in being sustainable, offering sustainable to-go-ware. Which is fantastic! One thing though is that the larger sustainable full cups can be hard to get in the valley, so be sure to bring your own reusable cup if youโd like a full drink to go!
Guru Verde
Guru Verde is an adorably small nook right in the center of Urubamba. In this quaint little shop youโll find a warm welcome from a family that makes raw vegan desserts from scratch. Not only are raw vegan desserts delicious, but they are free from processed sugar, gluten-free, and guilt free.
Guru Verdeโs location is very new, they actually started out of their home and just began to grow to an actual physical location. In their little shop they not only sell their desserts, but they also sell some local crafts, beauty supplies, and health products.ย
Special Requests & Things To Note:
Guru Verde can even accommodate pre-ordered cakes for birthdays, holidays, and special events too! Itโs usually best to order it ahead of time, but theyโll occasionally have one available onsite for someone to scoop up.
Favorites:ย
- Lavender and strawberry square
- Strawberry-Brownie flavored chocolate barย
Looking for access to their menu – See what youโd like here!
Address: Jirรณn Grau 339, Urubamba, Peru (Click here to be taken to Maps)
โป๏ธ Sustainable Highlight/Tip: Thankfully, alongside their support for the locals and health, they also care for the planet by offer sustainable to-go containers too! Whoo-hoo!
El Zorro De Arriba Cafรฉ + Coworking + Coliving
El Zorro De Arriba Cafe is founded by a family man who loves and thrives in community. It was his vision to be able to have local musicians play alongside him serving the community food, raising his children, and connecting with amazing people from all over the world.ย
Special Requests & Things To Note:
They currently just offer a few vegan and vegetarian options, but they are working on expanding their kitchen to be able to offer even more! El Zorro hopes to offer at least six savory options soon! Some of them being stir fry, sandwiches, toasts, bowls, stews and occasionally some raw vegan desserts from another local too.
Favorites:
- Quinoa bowls
- Savory toasts – Hummus & Avocado (I get one of each because each plate comes with two pieces of toast)
- Smoothies
- Raw vegan desserts
โป๏ธ Sustainability Tip/Highlight:ย
- Ask if you can have your water bottle filled up, they are more than happy to accommodate and it avoids using plastic!ย
- They try to collaborate with other locals on their options. For example, their breads and vegan desserts are made by their friends.ย
Address: Avenida Mariscal Castilla 1198, Urubamba, Peru
Kaia Ecotienda
Kaia Ecotienda is an adorable corner shop that offers a wide variety of good. Many of the items are either food, specialty canned goods, items made by her family, apothecary, jewelry, and more!
Amongst all these goods are some delicious vegan options. When first entering the door, thereโs a freezer filled with delicious, whole fruit, and sugar-free popsicles in multiple flavors. I think I had almost every single flavor! The flavor varieties were mango, chocolate, strawberry, coconut, and more.
Special Requests & Things To Note:
One amazing thing about this shop is that the owner and generally the workers also speak English. So theyโre very accommodating for visitors, and expats alike!ย
Grocery Items Available
- Canned coconut milkย
- Pesto sauces
- Pomodoro sauce
- Banana Keke
- Carrot Keke
Favorites:
- 100% fruit popsicles
- Cookies: turmeric corn, beet corn, charcoal chickpeas, chocolate chip chickpea, and cranberry.
- Raw Vegan Treats: โSnickersโ & โTwixโ
Address: Berriozรกbal cuadra 1 08661 Urubamba, Peru
โป๏ธ Sustainability Tip/Highlight: Although they do offer paper bags, they are a bit brittle, so be sure to bring your own reusable bags!
Antojitos Urubamba
Special Requests & Things To Note:
Most of this restaurant is not vegan, there’s maybe only one vegan food option. However, it’s really good, satisfying, hits the nutrition markers, and is pretty cheap compared to other vegan foods.ย
Almost all the juices are vegan, although some may have the option of having milk added, so keep your eyes out.ย
Antojitos is a bit hidden. When first entering the building, itโs hidden behind a front bakery counter, off to the left. Then youโll see a small booth area, although youโre welcome to sit there, thereโs an area even further back thatโsย
TIP: The menu is primarily in Spanish, but Google Translate has the option to take a photo of the menu to translate it!
This cafรฉ is not on most others articles or even the vegan apps – itโs an affordable-hidden gem that Iโm happy to have shared with you.
Favorites:
- Vegetariano Taco (Just ask for it to be vegana/vegano)
- Orange juiceย
Address: Jr. Mainique 211 Urabumba, Urubamba 08661 Peru
Migas del Valle
Migas is extremely popular for expats, visitors, and locals alike. Itโs infamous coffee and variety of freshly baked lunches, pastries, and desserts keep everyone coming back for more! Almost every time I visited, it was packed to the brim with people, and the smells were carb-coma-inducing in itself.
Truthfully, the cafรฉ definitely reminded me of a bigger city cafรฉ. It was very modern, clean, well-serviced, had great Wi-Fi, and was accommodating to English speakers. Itโs a nice touch and reminder of a cafรฉ from home in the small city in the Sacred Valley.
Special Requests & Things To Note:
Their vegan options are limited to what I’ve listed below, and they don’t have any savory options.ย
Favorites:ย
- Sourdough bread (Pan)
- Chocolate dessert square
- Coconut and chocolate dessert square
- Their Mocha coffee with plant-based milk (This was just divine – but if you want is sweeter, be sure to ask for sugar!)
Address: JIRON BOLIVAR 559 A 50 metros de la plaza de armas de urubamba., Urubamba Peru
Kampu Restaurante
Honestly, Iโd put off Kampu until nearing the end of my stay because Iโd wanted to try many of the classic Peruvian dishes. Especially since this restaurant is a fusion between Indian and Asian food varieties.ย
However, after eating the Peruvian food for months, I did want a nice mix-up and some flavor differences. So, having this Indian fusion vegetarian and vegan restaurant in the Sacred Valley Peru was nice!ย
A beautiful part of Kampu is that itโs partially indoors and outdoors, allowing it to accommodate visitors but also show off the garden that they have.ย
Special Requests & Things To Note:
- Nan is not vegan, it has yogurt.
- The veggie dumplings use egg to stick.
One important thing to consider when coming here is that the food is quite expensive for the area, so they probably purely survive on expats and tourists. Iโve come to notice that their dishes are similar, if not the same cost, as dishes in the U.S. So, be sure to keep that in mind when visiting. This may not be the best place to come for those looking to budget, but it is a good place, for a beautiful dinner that bursts with flavor!
What is Vegan/Can be made vegan:
- Chickpea pakoras (Although they are not listed as an appetizer, you can always request them in place of the dumplings.)ย
- House curry
- Korma Curry
- Massaman Curry
- Panang Curry
Address: Jiron Sagrario 342, Urubamba 00001 Peru
The Combi Brewbar Coffee
Special Requests & Things To Note
I love the shop’s style, decor, and vibe! It has a Bohemian and retro decor. Some of which are parts of an old Volkswagen van, some license plates, etc.
Iโll be the first to say, this place really doesn’t have many vegan options. However, they do just have the couple that I mentioned below that are pretty decent.
I heard through the grapevine some mixed reviews on service by the owner not being so accommodating. However, I didnโt end up experiencing it. When I was a younger guy working, who was super friendly and tried to make me happy. Just keep this in mind when visiting.ย
Favorites:
- Smoothie bowl (Be sure to ask for more fruit – it doesn’t have too much and most of the fruit on top is frozen)
- Coffee with plant-based milk
Address: Av. Mariscal Castilla 084 Urubamba, Peru
Yucay
Yucay, is a close neighboring town to Uruabamba, itโs especially popular for itโs hotels, soccer field, hikes, road centerpieces, and where many of the locals live.
Pajarito Sano
Pajarito Sano is an adorably quaint eatery, that serves delicious food and also displays their farm fresh ingredients and houses their music sessions. Both of the owners are as sweet as can be, passionate about their food, and choose to make the food affordable for all to enjoy.ย
Special Requests & Things To Note
One kind of more difficult part of the restaurant is that itโs not really next to much of anything and is in between the edge of Yucay and Urubamba, right across from the gas station. It can be a bit difficult to spot.
But, on the other hand, this makes them one of those hidden gems that Iโd mentioned before! Plus, itโs delicious – the flavors re fresh yet satisfying.
One amazing thing worth mentioning is that on Sundays they offer a super affordable deal where they serve an appetizer, meal, dessert, and drink for an amazing price. Usually, being the same price as one main appetizer in the U.S. So, around $8-12 USD, and 30โ40 soles, or so.
Plus, they are fully vegan and organic! Itโs a must-try!
Favorites:
- Sunday lunch specials
- Refresco De Fresa
- Thai wraps
- Cheesecake brownie
Address: Yucay 08665 Peru (I couldnโt find a more complete address anywhere – but theyโll help you get there via Facebook Messenger if you need help!)
Nรปna Collective & Coworkingย
Nuna is brand new as of the end of 2023 and is run by a lovely couple and their daughter. The woman Raquel, whoโs a co-owner is a yoga teacher for half of the space and midwife. Then Kasper, who’s the male co-owner runs the cafรฉ and coworking space. Both of them together add their own personality to the space.ย
Nuna Collective also recently added a separate soundproof room to allow for those wanting to use the internet to have a more quiet space for meetings, recording, or other business needs. Itโs rentable for an additional small cost. But itโs being decorated and expanded more overtime. Iโve listed them here because theyโre also hoping to offer more hot breakfast/lunch vegan options very soon!ย
Be sure to check with them because there are virtually not many other restaurants or vegan options in the area otherwise.
Special Requests & Things To Note
Their menu is expanding, and their vegan options are growing! If you have any requests or allergies, they try their best to either accommodate or make recommendations.ย
Favorites:
- Fresh pressed coffee with plant milk (upon request)
- Packaged chocolate covered coffee beans
- Packaged energy balls/bites
More to comeโฆ
Address: Primer Paradero, Yucay, Peru
PISAC
Pisac, is on the way to Cusco from Urubamba, being about an hour from it. This is a hub city for spirituality, retreats, apothecary shops, coworking spaces, and ruins too! I wish Iโd had more of an opportunity to explore this area and food, there are probably many more amazing places here. But I was staying at a retreat center in Urubamba.ย
SolSeed – School, Coworking, and Cafe
Solseed was actually recommended to me by an expat, the hosts the retreat that I was staying at. Although I noticed it wasnโt recommended on many vegan platforms, I decided to trust and go out on a limb. Well, letโs just say that itโs an incredible space.ย
Solseedโs space is incredibly warm, welcoming, and cozy. They have a resting area for prayer, to relax, or simply enjoy. As well as some tables to join others in coworking or just enjoy eating from the cafรฉ.ย
Plus, they offer a wide variety of classes, events, and try to actively get the community to gather.
Special Requests & Things To Note
The savory and satisfying vegan options are bit limited, most would require accommodations. But they do have a couple solid ones that are worth it, and the space is just absolutely cozy.ย
Favorites:
- Hummus toast (but adjusted to be vegan – remove the egg
- Curry squash stew
- Tacos (These pop up on some Tuesdays and other random times – they try to offer specials that arenโt on the menu to mix it up!)
- Smoothies (Any of them!)
- Herbal tea
Address: 54, Pisac 08106, Peru
Choosing a Favorite Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurants in Sacred Valley Peru
Above all, this is far more vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Sacred Valley Peru than Iโd ever expected. Especially because this is a smaller community, but itโs growing, our community is attracted to the healing energy. At least I know that I am and those that are more conscious usually look for healthier foods like these places.ย
Although there are more places that have options, I did try to visit many but there seemed to be quite a mix of limitations. Some being contamination, theyโd be closed on days that they said theyโd be open, it would be far from everything or it would require a lot of additional modifications in Spanish.
So, these were the ones that Iโd found to be best when choosing the right vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Sacred Valley Peru, first look to see whatโs going to be near you or your excursion/tour. Then compare the menu to ensure that itโs going to be satiating as well and fulfilling for your heart. Personally, the places that care for their community and the animals are what I support first and more often.
Now itโs time to get out there and satisfy those taste buds and support these beautiful places!
